Simon Walker "The Real Furry"

(source: http://dribbble.com/shots/1210782-The-Real-Co?list=users)

For This week's blog post I chose to do Simon "The Real Furry" Walker.
Walker was featured in HOW Magazine for his unique typography designs.

I figured his simple, yet creative work deserved to be a good use of typography. Since most of his porfolio is logos.

Here is some more of Walker's work, if you'd like to see more click his name above to view his portfolio. Also feel free to leave a comment below if you wish to.

"Paper to Petal is a collection of products, handmade paper flowers, and objects that celebrate paper-craft. Influenced by nature and imaginatively inspired. From the studio of Thuss + Farrell."

I found their work while browsing through HOW Design's website.

Paper to Petal's team consist or a husband and wife team, Thuss and Farrell, and a photography/design duo named Rebecca Thuss and Patrick Farrell.
Together these four work as a team to develop set design, furniture design, crafting, creative direction, and graphic design.

Blue & White Cab Company

(Image Above Source: HOW Magazine March 2013 Issue)
For today's blog I will be sharing an Award-Winning Design. Links to the designer and website are as listed.

Designer: FAME
Client: Blue & White Cab Company

Fameretail or FAME had took quite a few titles as "Best Of Show" in HOW's March 2013 issue including their design for MyBurger However, the design that sparked an interest for me was their work for Blue & White Cab Company's Safe Ride Home Campaign. Their designs included a marker-like vector image of an anthropomorphic mustard, hammer and toast layered on top of a low-saturated, single-colored backdrop. One thing I love about these designs are that they have a sorta "cheesy" pun, yet it was made cleverly. While their designs aren't featured in the Blue & White Cab Company's Website, during their campaign they had these designs posted around the city of Minneapolis.

What do you guys think of their work? Do you think these little posters were a great choice or do I have an awkward taste in Designs and Illustrations? Feel free to leave a comment below.

If you want to see a better quality or other designs of FAME's work for Blue & White Cab Company that didn't make it in HOW's Magazine you can find their other designs right here: http://fameretail.com/#/OUR_WORK/p125/s204/a6744

The Green Genius

For today's blog I will be sharing an Award-Winning Blog. Links to the designer and website are as listed.

Designer: Hub Strategy
Client: Green Genius

Hub Strategy not only made Green Genius's fabulous logo, boxes and business cards, they also created an award-winning website that was featured in the Communication Art's 2013 March/April magazine-Interactive Annual Edition. You can find this Magazine at Parkland College's Library. One thing I love about this site is, its use of colors. Because the company is an economic, going-green themed business, the use of brown and greens worked perfectly as well as the background images and template designs. What do you think? Feel free to leave a comment below.
